THE DOCUMENTARY
Caused by a combination of global warming and climate change, the 2010 Pakistan floods were the worst natural disaster in Pakistan’s history. Created by “cascading” and “compounding” events, the flood’s impact highlights the need to study and track connections between natural disasters as well as address the issue of climate refugees.
Using never before seen footage which took five years to acquire, LIKE NO OTHER shows the world, first hand, what happens during and after a disaster of this unimaginable magnitude. The filmmakers go to places where no one dared to go to document the aftermath of the disaster, interviewing survivors as they relived their horrific stories of loss; aiding recovery by bringing light to their darkness and despair. These survivors, often referred to as “climate refugees” are not recognized as refugees by the 1951 Refugees Convention, leaving an enormous gap in international law.
LIKE NO OTHER portrays the beliefs of Refugees International, to call on the world, “to address the increasing impacts of climate change on displacement, migration, conflict and human insecurity.
